OPEL POLAND: AUTOMATED GRATE WASHING

To optimise and speed up the technical cleaning process without interfering with production lines, we designed and developed an automated grate washing system for Opel Gliwice in Poland.

The aim of the project designed for the Opel plant in Poland is to supply and install a machine for washing the grates used in the paint booths at the Opel plant. Each project is tailor-made for the customer, in order to maintain optimal cleanliness conditions in the production lines and ensure a suitable and safe working environment for people. The system was designed according to the specific characteristics of the installation context and the activities envisaged by the installation, in such a way as to ensure flexibility and synergy with the staff involved. The scope of supply includes the design and preparation of 2D construction drawings of the grate washing machine.

The entire operating cycle starts when the operator opens the door in the loading area. When the door is opened, the conveyor stops to secure the system, after which the operator picks up the grate(s) from the pallet and places them on the conveyor and, after closing the door, presses the “START CYCLE” button on the button panel located next to the machine in the loading area.

When the button is pressed, the conveyor starts and the washing cycle begins. The grate coming out of the machine will be released onto a roller table to create an accumulation. There will be two micros on the roller table which, if they ALL intervene for a time ‘T’, will stop the conveyer. To restart the cycle, the operator must unload the grates on the roller table and press the “START CYCLE” button on the push-button panel located next to the machine in the loading area/main switchboard of the plant.
